C.J. Jenkins is an excellent example of what GCI stands for. Prior to coming to GCI in December 2015 as an Atlanta Transitional Center resident, C.J. had been incarcerated at Wheeler Correctional Center. During a point in his life, C.J. associated himself with what he describes as “the wrong type of people.” This negativity grew into a pattern, which ultimately led to his incarceration.
While incarcerated, C.J. entered the faith-based program called Basic Life Principles. And even though the course may have ended—for Jenkins, it is on-going. The skills he learned in Basic Life Principles, like developing his eye to detail, he still uses in his current position. C.J. is now the Warehouse Supervisor at the GCI Warehouse in Decatur. He was hired in March 2017.
